A bonnet strut, also known as a hood strut or a gas strut, is a small hydraulic or gas-filled cylinder that helps lift and hold the car’s bonnet (hood) open. A Bonnet strut works with an inside compressed gas, usually nitrogen. Basically, it is a self-contained spring and damper that makes opening the bonnet easier and safer.
